comnum.theory_rs_ber(n, t, m, p_s)#

The bit error rate after decoding of a code over GF(2^m): a wrong symbol carries on average 2^(m-1) / (2^m - 1) wrong bits per bit (Sklar, Sec. 8.1.2).

Parameters:
  • n (int) – word length (symbols).

  • t (int) – symbol errors corrected per word.

  • m (int) – bits per symbol.

  • p_s (float | array_like) – symbol error probability of the channel.

Returns:

the decoded bit error probability at every p_s.

Return type:

float | numpy.ndarray

Raises:

ValueError – for values that are not real numbers.
