comnum.theory_outage_probability(n_rx, n_tx, snr_db, rate)#

The probability that a Rayleigh channel drawn once cannot carry rate bits per channel use with equal power, one antenna on one side (Telatar 1999, eq. (16) and Example 7).

Parameters:

  • n_rx (int) – receive antennas.

  • n_tx (int) – transmit antennas (n_rx or n_tx is 1).

  • snr_db (float | array_like) – the SNR (dB).

  • rate (float) – the rate (bits per channel use).

Returns:

the outage probability at every SNR.

Return type:

float | numpy.ndarray

Raises:

ValueError – for an invalid parameter or input (the message names it).
