Convert decibels to a linear ratio, 10^{x/10}.

Parameters:: x_db (float | array_like) – the ratio (dB).
Returns:: the linear ratio.
Return type:: float | numpy.ndarray
Raises:: ValueError – for values that are not real numbers.
