comnum.theory_jitter_snr_db#

comnum.theory_jitter_snr_db(f_hz, jitter_s)#

The SNR of a sine of frequency f_hz sampled with an RMS clock jitter jitter_s: -20 log10(2π f σ_j) dB (Walden 1999).

Parameters:
  • f_hz (float | array_like) – frequency of the sine (Hz).

  • jitter_s (float) – RMS jitter (s).

Returns:

the SNR (dB) at every frequency.

Return type:

float | numpy.ndarray

Raises:

ValueError – for values that are not real numbers.

Examples

>>> import comnum
>>> round(comnum.theory_jitter_snr_db(1e9, 100e-15), 1)
